The island of Fuerteventura has always been a popular destination for people of all ages. The island is one of seven which makes up the Canary islands and is located just off the coast of Africa. Although not quite as built up as some of the other islands, Fuerteventura still offers the holiday maker plenty to do.
The island boasts over one hundred and fifty beaches, most of which are very secluded. In the South of the island is where the annual water sports are held, so for water sport enthusiasts Fuerteventura is a must.
The two main holiday resorts for the British are Corralejo and Caleta de Fuste (inc Nuevo Horizonte). The south of the island in resorts such as Costa Calma and Jandia is where the German tourists typically stay. Both offer a wide range of activities for both adults and children alike and there is a vast range of restaurants and bars in all of the resorts.
Although comparatively barren in parts, the island of Fuerteventura still provides some beautiful landscapes. Inland villages such as Betancuria, Pajara and Antigua offer a range of museums displaying old artefacts and information on the island. A salt museum can be found on the outskirts of Caleta de Fuste and Canarian pottery museums are located all over the island.
For youngsters there is a new water park in the north, Go Karting in the capital, Puerto del Rosario and zoo in the South of the island all of which make a great day out.
Flying to Fuerteventura is relatively easy with direct flights from most European countries. If you fancy a day trip to Fuerteventura’s neighbouring island Lanzarote then a ferry can be taken from Corralejo harbour.
Overall, the island of Fuerteventura makes a great place to visit for people of all ages, and with all year round sunshine, a great place to escape the cold winters of the UK.

Fuerteventura's Caleta de Fuste, in the Canary Islands, is located close to the airport and is a fairly new town and holiday destination. Caleta de Fuste boasts many facilities to keep you and the kids occupied and most of these are featured within these pages.
Caleta has been around for about 10-15 years, before that it was a coastal, er...coast. Not much happening at all, but now it is a thriving community with child-safe beaches, and their various water and sand based activities, as well as bars, restaurants, tours, cruises, coastal walks plus much much more.
