Fuerteventura's Caleta de Fuste, in the Canary Islands, is located close to the airport and is a fairly new town and holiday destination. Caleta de Fuste boasts many facilities to keep you and the kids occupied and most of these are featured within these pages.
Caleta has been around for about 10-15 years, before that it was a coastal, er...coast. Not much happening at all, but now it is a thriving community with child-safe beaches, and their various water and sand based activities, as well as bars, restaurants, tours, cruises, coastal walks plus much much more.
Well, its nice to see the owners of the Pickled Palm, doing such a great job of fitting out their new bar, plus getting it ready on time.
The bar is brand new, but Martin and Linda are veterans of this bar lark, as they were the proud owners of the Travellers Rest a little further up the hill, and it shows.
They still make one of the finest currys on the planet, and do other great stuff too - including breakfasts, snacks, as well as lovely beer (Dorada and Peroni).
They open at 9am and close late, and serve food throughout the day except between 3 and 6pm.
So if you are looking for a lively environment in Monte Castillo, and feel like a change from the main part of Caleta. Get up the hill to The Pickled Palm. Its a ten minute walk, a €3 cab ride, or a €2 Wally Trolley ride.
Try the curry and a pint, and prove me wrong!
